The Children of Mary Religion Camp LLC is a private, non-profit organization based in South Carolina. For 50 years, we have sponsored a one-week resident summer camp for the purpose of educating children in the Roman Catholic faith tradition.
The Camp is an independent charity that is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston (SC). We operate our programs in accordance with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, as interpreted by the Bishop of the Diocese of Charleston.
The camp is held at Camp York in Kings Mountain State Park, located in Blacksburg, SC (just southwest of Charlotte on the South Carolina/North Carolina state line). At this former Civilian Conservation Corps facility, each cabin houses 2- 4 campers along with two counselors. There are separate cabin areas for girls and boys. In our dining hall, our kitchen staff prepares three delicious meals a day, plus snacks. Campers are encouraged to exhibit their creativity in our large and well-supplied crafts building. Swimming is in Lake York under the supervision of a certified lifeguard and numerous staff. Campers enjoy soccer and kickball on our large sports field in addition to volleyball, basketball, badminton, kickball, horseshoes, and jump rope.
"Our Catholic faith is the foundation of all that we do here at the Children of Mary Camp." - Shaun Barry, President of the Camp Board of Directors
One of the principal goals of our camp is to bring children together in a loving, close-knit community to learn together, collectively, about our Faith so they can share that faith with others and to understand what it means to live in Catholic community. Throughout the week, Campers will participate in a VBS program with their peers and will also have the opportunity to receive the sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation and experience Eucharistic Adoration.
The Children of Mary Camp is a not-for-profit, charitable organization formed under Section 501(c)3 of the US Internal Revenue Code. The Camp is also registered as a Public Charity with the South Carolina Secretary of State. We are also recognized in The Official Catholic Directory as a miscellaneous institution located in the Diocese of Charleston.
The Children of Mary Camp is governed by a Board of Directors and includes a member from the Diocese of Charleston who serves as Episcopal Moderator. Board members are volunteers and receive no compensation for their service.
Since our first summer in 1970 as Divine Saviour Camp, we have helped thousands of children in South Carolina and North Carolina to deepen their faith in God.
