Br. Joseph Wilkerson entered the Rock Hill Oratory on February 22, 1962. He served Rock Hill and surrounding communities for over 50 years, before his death in March 2014. Br. Joe was a mainstay at Camp. Always wearing his trademark hat, he was quick witted and loved to joke around with Campers and Counselors alike. His "special time" was the daily mail call. Br. Joe would announce the name of each Camper who received mail. He patiently waited for that Camper to leave the table, retrieve the letter, and return to the table -- all before announcing the next name. He knew just how much a letter from home can mean, and he allowed that Camper to enjoy the moment without interruption.
Brother Joe served as a Counselor at Camp for 23 years.
Outside of Camp, Brother Joe ministered to the sick, elderly, hungry, and needy. Without a doubt, he lived a model Christian life.
